Park Volunteers Needed

It's that time of the year again when the weeds start to overtake our beautiful park. Volunteers are needed to assist in some basic landscaping services.

Rather than have one big cleanup day this year because of the varying schedules of our Erlton South residents, the Civic Association is asking for you to donate some time at your choosing.

If you are interested in helping, please contact Pat Stewart, the Civic Association's Gardening Coordinator at 428-1793 who will advise you as to what areas need attention.

As always, thank you for your participation in preserving the beauty of our neighborhood.

Cherry Hill Police Announces Project Medicine Drop

The Cherry Hill Police Department in partnership with the NJ Attorney General's Office, NJ Department of Consumer Affairs, NJ Department of Environmental Protection and the Drug Enforcement Agency is announcing Project Medicine Drop.

Project Medicine Drop is a program designed to allow Township Residents to properly and safely dispose of their unwanted or expired household medications.

Residents can bring their unwanted or expired household medications removed from the original packaging and in a zip lock or similar type plastic bag to the Cherry Hill Police Department, 820 Mercer Street Cherry Hill, NJ 08002, 24 hours a day and place their medications into the Project Medicine Drop box anonymously and free of charge. The medications will then be safely and properly destroyed.

For more information you may contact the Cherry Hill Police Department at 856 488 7828 or the Cherry Hill Township Mayor's Office at 856 488 7878.

CHPD: Reverse 911 System

Cherry Hill has begun sharing services and utilizing Camden County's Reverse 911 Community Notification System as an additional tool to alert residents of important and significant Township messages. The Reverse 911 system allows for rapid telephone notification Township-wide or to specific geographical areas of the Township. The system will be used for important Township alerts only, including but not limited to emergency evacuations, missing person alerts, natural disaster alerts, hazardous material leaks, search and rescue operations, crime prevention, neighborhood emergency incidents, special community notifications and Homeland Security information.

Our first phone call was distributed this past Wednesday and informed residents of an imposter alert being disseminated by the Cherry Hill Police Department. The Reverse 911 system will automatically place a call to residential landline telephone numbers within a specific geographic area and will deliver the relevant recorded message. If phone lines are busy, the system will attempt to redial those numbers to make contact. If an answering machine or voicemail system picks up the call, the emergency message will be left on the machine/voicemail. When you get a Reverse 911 call, you will receive specific instructions on what to do, where to go, or how and where to obtain additional information. Should you have any questions, please contact the Mayor's office at 856-488-7878.

Break-ins on the Rise

A number of homes have been broken into over the past several months and we want to make sure that you are informed when they occur. Please contact Dan DiRenzo at erltonsouthcivicassociation@yahoo.com and give him your email address so we can put you on our list. We are happy to do this; even if you are not a member of the ESCA.

The most recent break-ins were on Park Blvd and on Park Drive (first block off of Park Blvd). Both occurred during the afternoon, through a broken rear window. The perpetrators went straight for the master bedroom and took jewelry and small electronics including a computer. They were in and out of the homes in just minutes. So even if your home is equipped with an alarm system, they are able to get your valuables and get out before police are notified.

Please make sure your windows and doors are locked at all times. If you come home and your door is open or you notice a broken window, do not enter your home. Instead call 911 and wait until police arrive to enter your home. Do not keep your jewelry in your master bedroom in your jewelry box. Hide it somewhere less obvious, but don't forget where!

If you are at home during the day, please report any suspicious activity, cars, people, etc to the police. The Police department would rather get a call that turns out to be nothing, than not get information at all.

More information about how to protect your home is available by contacting the Cherry Hill Community Policing Department at (856) 488-7828.

Note:   Annual dues were due January 1, 2012. Please send a check using the communication form on page 2.
